Introducing Scilab in the high school classroom

Scilab, is installed in Chinese and French high schools and is recognized of pedagogical interest by the French Ministry of Education. Scilab is a scientific and numerical computation platform that anyone can download for free. The version suitable for high schools is the basic version of Scilab to which is added the Scilab module for high schools “Scholar.” The “Scholar,” module contains functions specific to teaching mathematics in high school.

My work has involved making available, in English the “Scholar” module, which is a package of Scilab routines, and help files suitable for schools. This is a complete translation of the Scilab “Lycee,” package used in French schools. Complementary to this is a translation I have made into English of the manual to accompany the Scilab module used in schools. The manual contains a wealth of examples on the use of Scilab in the high school classroom.
